Vive le Français!
It has been lovely to have the children back at school for their first full week. A real highlight was our Reception classes performing in their very first French assembly. Madame Any led the children in a range of French songs and some simple French vocabulary. It was particularly pleasing to hear that the children are already developing good French accents.
Since 2014 it has been compulsory for all children aged between 7 and 11 to learn a foreign language. The National Curriculum advises that teaching may be of any modern or ancient foreign language, and should "lay the foundations" for foreign language learning at KS3 (11-14 years old) . It is great to see our children getting a head start in such a positive, stimulating and entertaining way.
