ICT
The School has two ICT suites with computers operating on the latest software available. A filtered high-speed broadband Internet service is available for pupils to use for their studies. A wireless network enables Sixth Form pupils to access the Internet from most parts of the School from their own laptops.
All Pre-Prep and Prep pupils have dedicated ICT classes. Senior pupils can choose ICT as an option at GCSE and A level. All Senior pupils have access to the ICT suites should they wish to use the computers for other subjects.
The school aims to fully embrace ICT at all levels of the curriculum and at all stages of education. Our objective is to ensure students are comfortable and confident using ICT in all aspects of their lives. All students in the 11s (Year 7) will be taught ICT as a discrete subject and then as students progress they can opt for more or less exposure to the subject. In the Senior School we offer ICT as a full GCSE. Students can then elect to continue with ICT as an A-Level in the Sixth Form.
The Harrodian School has recently installed new computer suites. This has enabled us to develop IT as a subject in its own right, and also facilitate greater use of computers in other subjects. For example, our Media courses now make great use of editing software to manage and edit short movies which are then shown in our specially designed auditorium.
In the future, we will be extending the opportunities for students to work with computers in other subjects and we are committed to installing digital projectors in many areas of the school.
