Absence: Leaving the School Premises
Should a pupil need to leave school before the end of the day to attend an appointment etc, he/she must follow these procedures before leaving the premises. If a Prep pupil (8s to 12s) needs to sign out during the school day, he/she must:

  • bring a letter from home or have a note in his/her School Planner
  • show this to his/her Form Teacher who will sign it
  • then have it signed by their Head of Year or Mr Rossetti
  • go to Mrs Moore’s office and show the signed letter or note. When this has been done, he/she will be free to leave the school after signing out.

If a Senior pupil (13s to 15s) needs to sign out during the school day, it is essential that he/she:

  • brings a letter from home or has a note in his/her School Planner
  • shows this to his/her Form Teacher who will sign it
  • then has it signed off by Ms Moran or, if she is unavailable, by a member of the Senior Management Team
  • goes to the Senior School secretary’s office and shows the signed letter or note. When this has been done, he/she will be free to leave the school after
    signing out.

A Sixth Form pupil who needs to sign out during the school day should:

  • show a letter from home or a note in his/her School Planner to their Form Teacher
  • then have it signed off by the Head of Sixth Form, or if he is unavailable, a member of the Senior Management Team
  • make sure that, before leaving the school, he/she goes to the Senior School secretary’s office to sign out.

Some Sixth Form pupils have permission to leave school early if they do not have lessons. A record of these pupils is held by the Senior School secretary.
Under no circumstances should pupils leave the premises without permission. All other requests for absence should be made in writing to the Headmaster. Please note that all pupils are expected to attend school throughout term time and, as holiday dates are published well in advance, we expect parents to plan their holidays to fall within these dates.

Missed Work due to Absence (Prep and Senior Pupils)

Absence due to sickness for 1 or 2 days
If a pupil is absent due to sickness for up to 2 consecutive days, it is his/her responsibility to liaise with subject teachers on his/her return to school to catch up on any missed work.

Absence due to sickness for more than 2 days
If a pupil is sick for more than two days, his/her parent/guardian must contact the subject teachers directly via email to request the missed work. Teachers will endeavour to reply within 48 hours.

All other absences
If a pupil knows that he/she will be missing 1 or more days of school, he/she must collect his/her work from the subject teachers prior to the absence.

Missed Work due to Absence (Sixth Form)
If a Sixth Form student misses school due to sickness or for any other reason, it is the student’s responsibility to liaise with relevant subject teachers to catch up on missed work.
