These are some photographs of some of the fun learning we do in Reception A, from dressing up as chefs in our role play corner, to making big shapes in our dance lessons - we are always busy! We love singing, dancing, stories, painting, working hard and having fun!
We go on lots of school trips in Reception. In January we went to Pizza Express and made our own pizzas! The chef talked to us about the ingredients and we chose our own toppings.
In the Spring Term we had a really exciting Science week. Gary the Clown came to visit us and taught us all about forces. We got to be scientists and we did real experiments. We have been learning all about Japan so we made a real volcano – it was so exciting!
The Easter performance was so much fun – we 'spiced up our lives' on the stage, singing and dancing for all our Mummies and Daddies!
The first half of the Summer Term has been SO busy! We've been learning all about creatures that live Under the Sea and we have loved it! We even went on two school trips.
The first one was to the London Aquarium. We had a great time holding starfish, walking on top of the shark's tank and learning all about sharks in an educational workshop.
A week later, we walked from school to visit Michael the Fishmonger in Barnes. He let us all come in his shop, and showed us so many different kinds of fish. We learnt a lot – we know that lobsters have two different kinds of claws, and that squids have beaks!
The week of the 17th May was Art Week. We learnt about a very famous artist called Pablo Picasso. He was from Spain and he liked to paint mixed up portraits of people. Debra from the Artyard In Sheen came to show us how to make our own pictures. We had so much fun making them!
We also looked at the patterns in shells, and made spiral pattern pictures using lots of different materials. We took our time and they turned out beautifully.
After visiting the London Aquarium, we decided it would be fun to make our own aquariums so we used shoe boxes and paint, real sand, model magic, shells and lots of other things to make them. We think they look completely real!
In Sport, we have been swimming with Miss White, and playing tennis with Miss Benseman. We love swimming, and have been very brave – we also love tennis, and we are getting very good at it!

On Saturday 6th June 2009, the Harrodian School celebrated its 15th anniversary with a Charity Summer Ball. The event was organised and hosted by a dedicated committee of four parents together with the Harrodian School Parent's Association. The occasion also marked ten years of dynamic and inspiring leadership by the Headmaster, James Hooke and the Principal, Peter Thomson.
