Welcome to Reception
The Harrodian has two wonderful Reception classes. This crucial first year is all about experiencing the best start to a life of learning.
Our vision is to foster children’s natural enthusiasm to learn. By understanding what our children already know, we inspire learning through excellent teaching and a passion for bringing a rich and varied curriculum to life.
At The Harrodian we are committed to practising the four key principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage
-
A unique Child – every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured. Positive Relationships – children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person.
-
Enabling Environments – the environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning.
-
Learning and Development – children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates, and all areas of Learning and Development are equally important and inter-connected.
At The Harrodian we provide for children’s individual needs, we celebrate their successes, and respect their diversity. Children are encouraged to become independent learners who think creatively and reflectively.
We provide a secure and stimulating environment that enriches learning and promotes independence.
Thoughtfully planned teaching and learning opportunities aim to support children to learn through play with enjoyment and challenge, leading the children towards self-motivation and perseverance.
Working in a partnership with home, the children are encouraged to be supportive, tolerant, and work collaboratively and individually. In demonstrating respect for others, and for themselves, the children will develop an attitude that will help them be successful through life.

On Saturday 6th June 2009, the Harrodian School celebrated its 15th anniversary with a Charity Summer Ball. The event was organised and hosted by a dedicated committee of four parents together with the Harrodian School Parent's Association. The occasion also marked ten years of dynamic and inspiring leadership by the Headmaster, James Hooke and the Principal, Peter Thomson.
