Overview of The Harrodian School

The Harrodian School was opened in September 1993 by the present Chairman, Sir Alford Houstoun-Boswall. It is co-educational and takes children from Reception (age 4) to Sixth Form (age 18. Excellent results have been obtained at 11+, 13+ Common Entrance, GCSE and A level. A summary of our examination results can be obtained from the Admissions Office.

The School's aim is that children should be encouraged to reach their fullest potential - academically, physically and socially - in a happy atmosphere. In particular, children are taught to be articulate in English and confident in French.

Good manners and consideration for others are expected and European and global awareness promoted. Communication between School and parents is encouraged, and an active Parents' Association provides support through a variety of events. Spacious grounds of 25 acres permit most field sports and athletics, and the outdoor heated swimming pool is used in the Summer and Autumn terms.

The majority of the School buildings have been custom-built with great emphasis placed on aesthetics and providing an environment conducive to learning. The School offers superb facilities, including science laboratories, ICT suite, music centre and drama studies. First rate drama productions, art exhibitions and musical events are features of Harrodian life, and a wide range of extra-curricular activities is offered each term. Each age group is also given the opportunity to take part in a series of local, national and international educational visits and trips throughout the year.

A Bursary Fund has been established, with charitable status, to provide support in cases of exceptional need.

Enquiries from prospective parents are welcomed, and tours of the School take place several times each week. Appointments are made through the Admissions Office.
