The Harrodian School… produces a warm and friendly environment where hard work and very good behaviour are the norm.  The pupils enjoy the well-designed buildings, excellent accommodation and good facilities and they show great respect and care for the school environment.’
Ofsted Report, 2005.

‘[The Harrodian School] … a dream – a co-ed school run according to civilised values in a civilised environment to produce relaxed, happy children.’
The Good Schools Guide

The underlying emphasis of the School is upon the importance of each individual, irrespective of any other consideration, including age.  Every pupil is encouraged to have an opinion and not only to be able, but also confident and willing to express it.  Interaction between pupils and teachers is encouraged and it is noteworthy that there are no ‘sanctuary’ areas to which staff can withdraw for significant periods during the school day.  This friendly interaction includes parents and the school has an ‘open door’ policy with good parking, an informal meeting hall and an elegant café.

Much of the school is recently constructed and great care has been taken and considerable costs incurred in providing a sense of space e.g. wide corridors and high ceilings and also of aesthetic values e.g. visual symmetry, the use of high specification materials together with extensive landscaping.

All of these elements could be characterised  as ‘outward looking’ and this phrase perhaps catches as well as any the spirit of a school which takes particular pride in preserving and promoting its individuality and informality within a framework of high academic and personal achievement.

Good citizenship, responsibility and consideration for others and the school environment are cornerstones of the school’s philosophy and encouraged at every age.
