Capital Culture

Over the May Bank Holiday, myself and 14 other pupils form the 13s (Year 9) visited Germany's capital for a historic and exciting adventure.  There were so many wonderful things about the trip but the best thing was how well everyone bonded as a group.

Mr Hooke, Mr Murray and Ms Heller were excellent tour guides and provided us with not only historical information but also bike-riding tips and plenty of suncream! Cycling around the city made it so easy to see everything.

We visited some fascinating sights; the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, Checkpoint Charlie, the Reichstag, the Berlin Victory Tower and also saw some remnants of the Berlin Wall.

We learnt so much about Berlin during the 20th century. There were so many memorable moments but rowing on the Neuer See and splashing the teachers, eating traditional German hot dogs, trampolining in the city centre and drinking 'mocktails' bought by Mr Hooke were amongst my favourite! Thank you to all the teachers and admin staff who made the trip happen and to all my classmates who came and made me smile so much that my cheeks hurt!
