Teacher of Mathematics (Key Stages 3 and 4, with some KS5 available) - Sept. 2024

We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher to join our high-achieving and dynamic Mathematics department on a full-time basis from September 2024. We would welcome applications from both newly-qualified and experienced teachers. The successful candidate will primarily teach students across Key Stages 3 and 4.  A Level teaching will be available for the right candidate. Harrodian students follow the Edexcel specification at both GCSE and A level.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a genuine interest in Mathematics as an academic discipline and have the ability to convey this to our pupils. We believe that every child can be good at mathematics and our priority is to bring the subject alive: we treat the subject not as a collection of rules but as an exploration in learning. The department seeks to promote Mathematics outside the classroom and offer opportunities for mathematical enrichment for pupils of all ages. Teaching staff at Harrodian should be able to inspire and motivate pupils through a diverse range of learning styles, will consistently model excellent practice and will look to make a significant contribution to their department. They can also expect to lead a form, run lunch-time/after-school clubs and contribute to shaping the extra-curricular life of the school.

Mathematics and Further Mathematics are the most popular choices at A Level amongst Harrodian sixth form students, instilling practical and problem solving skills that equip them for progress in almost any field of future studies. In December 2023, the outstanding exam results of our A Level Mathematics candidates over the past two years saw Harrodian top the list of Britain's 'Best Schools at Maths' in Parent Power, The Sunday Times 'definitive guide to UK secondary schools'.

Founded in 1993, the Harrodian School is co-educational and set in 25 acres of grounds with excellent facilities. Harrodian offers teachers and students alike a friendly, welcoming and exceptional school environment where classes are small and standards and expectations are high.  We place a strong emphasis on the ability to convey enthusiasm and enjoyment of the subject to students across the ability range.  A sense of fun, a readiness to respond to students’ individual needs and an open approach to teaching are qualities that we value highly.  A teacher’s willingness to assist with a large range of extra-curricular activities is important in this dynamic and vibrant school. Teaching staff are expected to offer support to the learning, pastoral and co-curricular needs of our pupils to ensure the all-round quality of education offered at Harrodian.

Benefits

Harrodian offers a range of benefits, including a free car park (on a first come first served basis), a cycle to work scheme, free lunches during term time, free access to some of the School’s sport and leisure facilities at specified times, and a defined contribution pension scheme.
