French is taught to PP1, PP2 and PP3 pupils.
The primary aim is to inspire a love for French in all our children. They attend weekly French sessions and lessons are playful in their approach, with a focus on singing, miming, games and role plays.
Our teacher, a French native, encourages pupils to listen and repeat, helping them to speak with a clear French accent. We teach everyday language and cover areas such as personal greetings, numbers, days of the week, colours, clothes and food.
We expect that by PP3 (Year 3) the children will have a wide range of vocabulary and a good recognition of French words. Children also have the opportunity to display their language skills in termly French assemblies.
