We have an opportunity for a full-time Kitchen Assistant to work in our busy school kitchens during term time.
Reporting to: Head Chef
Duties will include:
- assisting with the smooth and efficient running of the school kitchen operation, providing teas, coffees, snacks, packed lunches and up to cooked 1500 lunches for pupils and staff on a daily basis, as well as catering for evening and weekend sporting and special events
- carrying out the preparation, cooking, portioning, presentation, transportation and serving of food and beverages as directed
- maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen, food prep and food storage areas, including surfaces, equipment, walls and floors
- washing and drying cooking and serving equipment, crockery, glassware and cutlery
- filling and emptying the dishwasher, putting items away neatly and carefully
- carrying out any other ad hoc duties appropriate to the role, as directed
Applicants must be hard-working, energetic and cheerful, able to work well within a large team. Free school lunches are provided.
Working hours will be:
- Mondays to Fridays during term time, plus 15 days in the school holidays.
- Full-time: 07:30 to 16:30
- You are also required to be available to work at up to twelve substantial evening functions per annum, ending at approximately 23:30, for which you will be given appropriate notice. These extra hours are paid in addition to your salary.
Salary: £25,771 (actual gross annual salary for full-time position, equating to an hourly rate of £12.39. This salary is based on a 40-hour working week, including 1 hour paid for lunch and breaks). Free school lunches are provided.

Interview dates: TBC. As part of the interview process, all candidates will be required to work at least one and usually three Trial Days.
