Graduate /Gap Year Sport Assistant (Hockey specialism ideally) - 5 January 2026 until 3 July 2026

The role of a Graduate/Gap Year Assistant at Harrodian is hugely rewarding and offers successful candidates the opportunity to become widely involved in the busy life of our exciting school.  The Sport Assistant position is to support teachers within the PE & Games department with a wide range of sport-related practical and administrative duties, including leading small and 1:1 groups, equipment and classroom preparation, and modeling the School's behavioural code of conduct. There will also be opportunities to work on Saturdays to assist with fixtures and tournaments (paid as additional hours).  Needless to say, you will not be the type to shy away from being outside in inclement weather!

The Sports Assistant (Hockey specialism) will be required to complete a Level 1 Coaching and Umpiring qualification in Hockey, and a Lifeguarding qualification if working in the Summer Term. 

It is expected that a Gap Year/Graduate Sport Assistant will perform Duties, such as playground and lunch queue supervision, and be willing to contribute to the School’s Co-curricular programme, including attendance on day trips and residential trips such as Bushcraft, Coastal and PGL, during term-time, if required. 

We are ideally looking for applicants who can start work on 5 January 2026 and can commit for the remainder of the academic year, until 3 July 2026.  If they can also commit for 2026-27, we would also consider extending this contract.

Working days and hours

This is a full-time term time plus staff training days position. It is a paid position and the salary will be compliant with the national minimum wage, paid on the basis of 35.2 working weeks.  Working days and hours are: Mondays to Fridays 08:00-17:00 during term time plus 2 remaining Staff Training Days (one each held at the start of the October half term and Spring terms.
