Key Stage 2 / Primary-trained teacher with an English or Humanities specialism - Sept. 2026

We are seeking a well-qualified, highly-skilled and enthusiastic Key Stage 2 / Primary-trained teacher with a English (preferred) or Humanities specialism to teach Year 4 to Year 6 pupils in the Prep School. In addition, and for the right candidate, there may be the opportunity to take on a role of responsibility.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding and appreciation of English language, literature and poetry.  They will be engaging and able to inspire a love of reading and writing. They should be exemplary in their professionalism and educational practice, and be able to teach, inspire and nurture all pupils' learning.  They should consistently model excellent practice, have proven classroom management skills and be able to make a significant contribution to this busy and vibrant part of the school.

In addition to the main teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will be expected to take on Form Tutor responsibility, will perform Duties, such as playground and lunch queue supervision, and be willing to play a full part in the co-curricular life of the Prep School, including having an enthusiasm and willingness to attend both day and residential trips, such as to museums, Roman villas, Bushcraft, Coastal and PGL, during term-time.  Trips may take place over a weekend.

Working days and hours

This is a full-time, permanent position. Full-time working days and hours at Harrodian are Mondays from 08h00 to 17h00 and Tuesdays to Fridays from 08h15 to 17h00. Five staff training days are held over the year, at the start of the Autumn, October half, and Spring terms.  Term dates are published on the School's website.

Interview datesTBC. As part of the interview process all candidates will be required to teach at least one academic lesson and lead a rehearsal. Preparation work in advance of the class lesson will be required and details will be provided prior to interview.
