We are looking for a Minibus Driver to join the Transport Team at our age 4-18 co-educational school located in Barnes, London SW13. Please check our website for further information.
The Minibus Driver will cover the Get-to-School bus journey for 20 hours per week, from 6.00 am to 10.00 am on Mondays to Fridays during term times (as published on the school website). We may also be able to offer have additional afternoon and Saturday hours for sport fixtures.
Rate of Pay: £15.98 per hour. The hourly rate is calculated to include statutory holiday entitlement.
The Get-to-School route is from Barnes to Knightsbridge, via Putney Bridge, the King's Road through Chelsea to South Kensington and then back to Barnes via the A4 and over Chiswick Bridge.
The Minibus Driver is accountable to the Transport Manager. The main responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Operating one of the School’s morning bus routes from Barnes to Knightsbridge and back to Barnes, via given pick-up points as requested by the Head of Transport
- Driving safely, legally and responsibly, always abiding by the Highway Code
- Ensuring the care, health, safety and security of passengers at all times
- Managing passenger behaviour according to the School's behavioural policy (training will be given)
- Ensuring that the minibus is kept clean and in good condition
- Daily visual inspection/checking of tyres, lights, oil, water, fuel, signage, etc.
- Be familiar with vehicle handbook and operating instructions
- Ensuring that any maintenance work required is communicated immediately to the Transport Manager
- Adhering to all school policies including Health and Safety guidelines for minibus drivers
- Communicating directly with parents regarding changes to schedule, passenger list, etc.
Essential requirements:
- D1 Licence with no 101 restrictions
- Physically fit and able to drive a manual 17-seater minibus
- Confident to drive into London
- Ability to communicate clearly and confidently in English
- Diplomatic, tactful, welcoming, with a "can-do" attitude
- Excellent time keeping skills

- Willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS with Children's Barred List check, overseas police check (where applicable) and appropriate Safeguarding and Prevent training
Desirable requirements:
- Experience of education environment
- First Aid qualification
This position is offered on a permanent contract and work will mainly only be carried out during school term times with occasional hours during the school holidays.
