Teacher of A Level Economics - Sept. 2026

We are looking to appoint a well-qualified, experienced and enthusiastic Teacher of Economics to join our high-achieving and dynamic Economics department on a full-time basis from September 2026. The successful candidate will, in particular, have solid experience of and demonstrate an enthusiasm for teaching the full Economics syllabus to both Lower and Upper Sixth. Harrodian students follow the AQA specification. The successful candidate will be engaging and will bring energy to the classroom. They must be a team-player and demonstrate an enthusiasm and willingness to assist in study-related trips and events. The department offers a range of opportunities for students to stretch outside the lessons, including school trips to Canary Wharf, student-led Economics talks run by the Student Society, participation in competitions such as the Economics Olympiad and the RES Young Economist of the Year Competition, and participation in conferences held by the BOE and OBR.  Our students are ambitious and they truly value the additional support the school offers for these prestigious opportunities.

Economics is currently the second most popular choice at A Level with Harrodian students and is one of the best performing departments in terms of A level results. We are continually developing our range of teaching resources, including our tech-driven materials for the optimum use of student iPads within lessons, and we endeavour to provide a range of interesting opportunities for pupils to develop their appreciation of the subject matter and its relevance to the bigger, global picture. To this effect, experience gained in a previous career outside teaching would be of significant advantage.

Applications from ECTs will be considered but must be supported by a relevant degree and useful experience in industry, as well as demonstrating an outstanding ability to teach.

The Economics department offers a professional and collaborative working environment where our students' achievement and progress are at the forefront of our teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the planning, teaching and assessment within the department. We are looking for a teacher who can teach outstanding lessons, has excellent classroom management skills and is able to inspire and motivate pupils through a diverse range of teaching styles.  They will consistently model excellent practice and will be able to make a significant contribution to this strong and successful department.
