Security Officer/s (Part-time morning and/or late afternoon) - Immediate start

We have an opportunity to join the school's Security team on a part-time basis.

Our immediate need is for a Security Officer to work from 6am to 10am and from 3pm to closing (8/9pm) on Mondays to Fridays during term time.  Extra hours are available in the evenings when we have events.

These hours could be split into two separate shifts for two people. 

The main responsibilities include:

  • Operate gate security and ensure only authorised persons are allowed access to the school grounds
  • Maintain overview of events taking place at school
  • Be welcoming, courteous and helpful to parents, staff members and external visitors
  • Control access to car parks and assist with car parking management
  • Assist with pupil road-crossing patrol
  • Patrol (on foot) school access points, grounds and buildings at regular intervals
  • Assist with duties required in the security base, e.g. CCTV monitoring
  • Receive post/parcels and distribute/arrange collection
  • Alert the Main Security officer of any breach of security and make safe/secure
  • Assist with emergency procedures, fire prevention, etc.
  • Maintain accurate records and logs of deliveries, incidents, etc.
  • Maintain Security Lodge in a clean and tidy state
  • Assist in events and functions to ensure the smooth running of the school
  • Hand in any lost property
  • Adhere to all school policies

Essential requirements:

  • Physically fit and able to carry out outdoor duties on a 25 acre site in all weather conditions
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently in English
  • Diplomatic, welcoming and friendly manner
  • Calm under pressure
  • Excellent time keeping skills, 100% reliable, with a "can-do" attitude
  • Work well with a team and able to use initiative
  • Provide outstanding customer service
  • Offer flexibility around working hours
  • Willing to undergo a DBS police check and appropriate Safeguarding and Prevent training

Desirable requirements (not essential):

  • Experience of education environment
  • First Aid qualification

Salary: Will be based on an hourly rate of £13.89 including holiday pay.
