Throughout the (nearly) thirty-year lifetime of Harrodian the quality of the music and the entertainment at Harrodian’s Charity fundraising balls and celebrations has always been legendary. And, after the unwelcome disruptions of recent years, it was great to see the 2022 Fundraising Ball slotting back comfortably into its familiar groove.
And, boy, what a groove! Live music kicked off with a set by a school Super group made up of musician parents and friends of Harrodian, among them film music composer Tom Howe on Guitar, The Cure's Jason Cooper on drums, Steve Pearce on Bass, Paul Rivers on sax and the incredible Vula Malinga on vocals, with Harrodian Music's Dan Almond not only co-ordinating proceedings but also playing keys.
Harrodian's staff band, who were next up, had a hard act to follow but, as usual 'The Humanities' – Andy Nowell, Mike Glen, Adam Lineker and Andy Woodward – pulled it off brilliantly.
The night reached a pulsating climax with an amazing set by legendary DJ Pete Tong, who played all the way through to 1am. The dance floor was packed for the duration and the fabulous light show, delivered by the amazing 02 Group, added to the atmosphere.
These events are about fundraising as much as fun. And generous bidding on the part of guests during the charity auction that took place after dinner helped provide our bursary scheme with a substantial boost in funds.
Harrodian would like to thank our toastmaster Mr David Barnes, auctioneer, Addison Gelpey, caterers Lettice Events and all the parents on the Events Committee, pictured below, who helped make the evening such a success.
