Can you Dig it?

Tucked away in the front corner of the grounds, near to the Pre-Prep building, the Harrodian allotment is a hidden treasure. It is run by Debbie Craddock and her team of parent and staff volunteers (below).

Pre-Prep children get the opportunity to take part in a lunchtime allotment club and plans are afoot to roll this out to the Prep children next term and in the summer term.

Over autumn, all our helpers on the Harrodian allotment have been busy harvesting an amazing amount of fresh produce. Jams and sauces were also produced using ingredients grown on Harrodian ground and these were sold (via an honesty box) along with fresh produce at the beginning of this week to coincide with Harvest Festival.

New and exciting plans for the allotment include a pond! Many Science lessons (particularly in the Prep School, below) are conducted in the allotment and the addition of a pond will further increase educational opportunities, making it the perfect place to learn about the biosphere, habitats and environmental issues.

Mr Hooke and a group of Sixth Formers have already been hard at work digging the new pond!
