Harrodian's annual dance spectacular featured performances by eight clubs and 84 pupils aged from 8-18
As the name of the production suggests, each of the clubs who took part in Tales of Dance Harrodian's annual Dance Show, had their own story to tell. 'The theme of the show was books', explains Harrodian's Dance supremo, Alice Jarvis. 'Every group's performance ws inspired by one. We had everything from Comic Books, through the Great Gatsby to Dr Seuss's Green Eggs and Ham.' (below)

The musical sources chosen by the eight different clubs performing – one for each year from the 8s to the 13s and the Dance Troupe for the Senior dancers – were as diverse as the literary ones. 'We try to let them dance to the music that most pupils in the group like and there's a real variety of taste on show,' says Ms Jarvis, who manages all eight clubs. 'From 70s and 80s rock - the 10s danced to Starship's 'We built this City' – to Stock Aitken and Waterman and more modern stuff like Pharrell Williams's Happy.'

As a dancer and choreographer whose training specialised in Musical Theatre Ms Jarvis knows all about the art of turning stories into dance sequences and her experience showed in the consistently high quality performances of the 84 boys and girls who took part. She is proud of the efforts of all her dancers especially members of the Dance Troupe who have kept on dancing despite the pressure of busy timetables and impending exams.

As for the future, Ms Jarvis says she is keen to continue building on the success of what is already one of the school's most popular co-curricular activities. 'After Christmas I will be starting teaching dance on the Pre-Prep timetable,' she says. 'That will be a great opportunity to plant a passion for dance in young Harrodians and to see how it grows over the next few years.'
