Over 30 Harrodian Prep Pupils overcame heatwave conditions to produce cool, clear-headed performances in the latest of the drama department's studio showcase productions at the end of June
Despite Harrodian’s prolific output of school drama productions, the hunger for stage performance among our pupils remains almost boundless. That’s why, two years ago Mr Glen and his drama team set up its ‘showcase’ programme, a initiative which allows pupils who haven’t yet had much experience of performing, to take part in short, smaller ensemble productions.
The latest of these showcases took place after school on the last day of June in the Theatre, under the direction of Ms Natalie Ibbett and featured no fewer than 31 pupils from the 8s,9s and 10s (Years 4,5 and 6) performing a series of short scenes from Little Women, the Pied Piper of Hamelin, Wind in the Willows, Ernie’s Incredible Illucinations and Snow White.

According to Ms Ibbett, the cast overcame heatwave conditions in the theatre to produce some sparkling drama. ‘The studio showcase was intended to give Harrodians even more drama opportunities than normal and when you see a group of children staying cool in tough conditions and working together to produce excellent performances as these pupils did, it really does feel worthwhile.’
