On Saturday 8th September two of our Lower Prep football teams from our 9s (Year 5) and 10s (Year 6) kicked off the Harrodian football season by traveling to Hampton School for their Annual Primary And Prep Schools' Five-A-Side Football Festival. Both teams competed against 38 other local schools, which definitely added to the challenge!
All the boys were in high spirits before the tournament and were excited to showcase their talent in a challenging competition. Our 9s team (Year 5) started the competition well with a convincing 3-1 victory over Kew College. They remained unbeaten in eight consecutive games and secured victories against some very strong opposition including: Fulham Prep School, East Sheen Primary, Cranmore and Ravenscourt Park Prep. They played competitively but also showed great humility and responsibility, an attitude that was rewarded when they achieved first place and lifted the trophy.
Our 10s team (Year 6) returned to the Hampton Football Festival as reigning champions. Knowing that bonus points were on offer for extra goals, they wanted to get off to a fast start. In a superb start they won their first five matches against some really competitive schools; their results included 5-1, 2-0, 4-0 and 3-1 victories.
