It may be the end of the school year but Harrodian’s Drama department already has an exciting programme planned for 2022-23 and they want Harrodians of all ages to help make it happen.

‘We’re back on full power after lockdown and we have lots of theatre trips and lots of productions of different kinds planned for 2022-23,’ says Michael Glen, Harrodian Head of Drama. ‘We want to make it our biggest year ever.’  The Drama team has already settled on two plays. First up is a production of The Snow Queen, with a 25-strong 8s-13s cast directed by Ms Natalie Ibbett which will be staged at the end of the Autumn Term.

This will be followed in the Spring Term by Mr Glen’s own production of Macbeth with a cast (of around 30) made up of Senior pupils (14s-Upper Sixth).  Auditions for both productions will take place in the first week of the Autumn Term. Pupils who are interested in auditioning for Macbeth are encouraged to read the audition material that can be found at this linkPupils from 8-13s  who wish to audition for The Snow Queen need to sign up and collect the audition material from Room 409 in the Drama department before the end of this term.

Next year’s Drama opportunities for Harrodians don’t end there, as Mr Glen is also planning to initiate a series of smaller ‘showcase’ productions alongside the big shows. ‘We know that participating in major Harrodian productions requires a major commitment in terms of time and logistics for both pupils and their parents,’ he says. ‘Our ‘showcase’ productions will give Harrodians interested in performing the chance to dip in by doing something smaller and a bit less intense.’ This term, for example, Lower Sixth Formers staged a production of Waiting for Godot. It was smaller in terms of audience, stage and cast but just as powerful and impressive in the talent showcased. To see photos from this term's Lower Sixth production of Waiting for Godot, please find the link below.
