This year's Youth Philanthropy initiative came to a climax last week when two groups of 13s each won a £1500 grant for the charity of their choice.
Our 13s pupils took centre stage on 16th May for the final of our Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI), a powerful programme that encourages students to engage with social issues and support local charities through youth-led grant-making.
Over the past two terms, teams of pupils in their Citizenship lesson have been researching and connecting with charities close to their hearts, working hard to prepare compelling presentations in support of their chosen causes. The final saw the seven top teams present to a panel of external judges, each aiming to win a £3,000 grant for their charity.
The finalists impressed with their creativity, confidence, and heartfelt delivery. From emotional storytelling to clear, persuasive arguments, our pupils demonstrated impressive presentation skills that left a lasting impact on both the judges and the audience. So much so that the judges had to announce joint winners in “Yes To Life” and “Lives Not Knives”. The audience also voted, with their favourite charity being “Age UK, Hammersmith & Fulham”.
Rob Stewart, Head of Seniors commented, 'YPI is at the heart of Harrodian School’s desire to make a difference across our great London community and empower young people to become active, caring citizens.'

The YPI final was a celebration of empathy, teamwork, and youth empowerment — and a reminder of the change that is possible when young people are given the opportunity to lead. All participants should take pride in their efforts.
Congratulations to all involved!
