IMG_0392%20(1).jpgHarrodian’s Under 13s Cricketers got their their  season off to an exciting start this week with an international fixture against one of Holland’s leading clubs.

The Hague Cricket Club (HCC) brought a strong team to Barnes and quickly impressed with the quality of their bowling and the athleticism of their fielding.  So they were unlucky to run into a pair of Harrodian opening batsmen in peak form, with Cameron scoring a rapid century and his partner Archie a stylish 50, allowing Harrodian to reach a total of 215 off their 25 overs.

The Hague team made steady progress in their reply without ever quite matching Harrodian’s imposing total. They were also hampered by the sort of downpour which always seem to coincide with the first cricket fixture of the season.

Despite the weather, a good time and a great tea were had by all. ‘It was a fantastic experience for the students to host an overseas touring team,' commented Harrodian Head of Cricket, Mr Marcus Howard. 'Both teams played to an excellent standard. We are thrilled that HCC included us in their English tour and hope to meet them again in the future.’

Mr Howard also has high hopes that this week’s match marks the start of a great summer for Harrodian cricket. ‘There are plenty more competitive matches taking place this term for all the Harrodian boys and girls playing cricket,’ he said.  ‘Next week, our boys and girls teams begin various Surrey Cup campaigns alongside our regular fixtures - so please do wish them the best of luck and come along to support them when you can.’
