Sixth Form Graphic Design students who joined a day-long workshop at the London Centre for Book Arts last week were introduced to exciting and new ways of producing and printing two dimensional design work.
On the one hand, the students learnt about Letterpress printing and the typesetting craft that constituted the printing norm only 50 years ago but now has become a craft specialism. On the other, they were introduced to the wonders of Risograph printing, a process dating from 1986 that uses environmentally friendly soy-based inks to produce unusual and beautiful results.
The students also produced a collaborative book during the day, which included work from their current design brief.
