September is team-building high season at Harrodian. We report on bonding happenings for the 8s, 11s and 13s/14s
The 8s went on a trip to Colourscape where they were absorbed by a session exploring the science and art of light and colour. The children were intrigued by the immersive nature of the environment and enjoyed sharing the sensual effects of the experience with each other.
They also thoroughly enjoyed working with visual artists who encouraged them to learn about colour through practical observation and discovery and by a session with a music workshop leader who worked with percussion, voice, and Tibetan Singing Bowls to link vibration and natural human music-making to heighten pupils musical awareness.
The 11s teambuilding programme took them on a three-day camping trip to Corfe Castle in Dorset where daytime activities included paddle-boarding and surfing, coasteering, forest survival and archery, a mass slip and slide (and water fight!) a hike to the top of the castle, as well as quite a bit of messing about in the playground.
The evening events included a movie night, a team quiz, a talent show and plenty of deliciious food including a chili-con-carne feast and a marshmallow roasting session.
Meanwhile, the 13s and 14s were enjoying their own bonding sessions rather closer to home. They each took part in a half-day session of activities and games on Harrodian's playing fields.
These were organised by Harrodian's regular partner Activ Adventures, and the pupils defied downpours to emerge with smiles and the admiration of Mr Holder, Head of 14s. 'I was really impressed with both year groups' commitment and engagement despite some dodgy weather,' he said. 'Well done, everyone!'
