This year’s Pre-Prep Christmas production, A Fairytale Christmas, sparkled from start to finish. Reimagined from a previous show performed a few years ago, it delivered a heartwarming message of inclusion and positivity: everyone has an important part to play, and with confidence and self-belief, happiness is never far away.

Our PP3 children took on the lead narrators and principal roles, each inspired by well-loved fairy-tale characters, from Snow White to Robin Hood, while the rest of the Pre-Prep classes shone in their own musical numbers. In their class groups, they delighted the audience as Bossa Nova Bears (PP2DR), Pig Rock ’n’ Roll Band (PP2H), galloping goats (PP1B), Kung Fu Gingerbread Folk (PP1W), cheeky elves (Reception BD), and traditional nativity characters, including extras like twinkling stars and fairies (Reception A).

The storyline follows Lucy the Camel, played by Scarlett (PP3C), who is eager to play her part and find her place in Fairytale Land. She is drawn to the excitement and charm of the bears, pigs, goats, gingerbread folk and elves, all of whom appear in well-loved children’s fairy stories, but it is among the stable animals in the nativity scene that she finally discovers where she truly belongs.

The original story, script, lyrics and music for A Fairytale Christmas were created a few years ago through a collaborative effort between former Head of Pre-Prep, Lucy Horan, and then–music teacher, Toby Huelin. This year, Mrs Walker and her wonderful Pre-Prep team, supported by our new Head of Lower Prep Music, Mrs Niedinger, and piano accompanist, Miss Cassidy, put their own special stamp on the production. At the end of the show, an emotional Mrs Walker described it as a 'massive team effort' and expressed heartfelt gratitude for everyone’s contributions.
