A grey and drizzly summer day didn't dampen the spirits of the 15s pupils (Year 11) who gathered at the school to collect their GCSE results, on August 22nd
This year's Harrodian15s have performed extremely well in their national examinations. This cohort matched last year's best-ever tally of 9-7 grades at GCSE (75 per cent), with 36 students achieving a clean sweep of 7s, 8s and 9s.
As always, Harrodian Headmaster Mr James Hooke was there to meet and congratulate the 15s and greet the usual welcome assortment of Harrodian parents, siblings and dogs who came to celebrate this annual rite of passage.
The Headmaster was specially impressed by the students' efforts this year. 'This is a group which faced 18 months of disruption to their Prep stage education but this year's Average Points Score (APS) shows that they've really worked hard to overcome that disadvantage,' he says. 'Overall, the APS across all GCSE subjects is 7.41, a score which is slightly better than the results of our last pre-pandemic student cohort back in 2019. So they can be very proud of what they've achieved.'
