Since they arrived back on Monday (above), Harrodian newbies and old hands, have been busy getting to know each other, discovering new places and things to do and rediscovering favourite place and activities too, as our photo story reveals.

Our induction sessions  are designed to start the process of settling in our new Prep pupils early. On the Friday before term began, all 11s gathered for a special induction day. Mr Hooke played his part in  football and netball games for boys and girls. Beforehand, drama practice had taken place indoors along with clay modelling supervised by Head of Art, Laura Caldecott.

Welcome Back

On Monday, Mr Hooke was delighted to welcome two founding pupils of the school, Allegra W-G, left, and Yasmina R. middle, back to the school as parents. Along with Yasmina's sister, Maria G.,  these pupils from the 1990s have now entered their own children in Pre-Prep.

Coming Together

The Courtyard between the Senior block and the Science Labs, always a busy Harrodian Hub, was immediately humming with pupils in a hurry.

Freed at last from the limitations of Zoom, on Wednesday Mr Hooke led Senior School Assembly in the wide open spaces of our trusty marquee.

Extracurricular activities – from music to art and sport to drama – are already getting set for take-off. On the first day of term the 63-strong cast for Legally Blonde, next spring's big musical production, gathered in the hall for their first rehearsal.

Spaces and Places

After 18 months our much-loved cafe has now re-opened to Harrodian parents, as well as pupils and was quickly doing brisk business.

Librarian, Ms Callon welcomed pupils, in this case a class of 14s, back to the peaceful pleasures and indispensable resources of the Senior Library.

The lifting of Covid restrictions means that prospective and new parents have the chance to take a tour of our site and facilities, in the company both of staff and Harrodian Senior School pupils.

Teambuilding sessions are as much of a fixture in the September Sixth Form schedule as they are throughout the school. On the first Thursday of term, Lower Sixth Formers, including a sizeable group of new Harrodian recruits, took part in a day trip to the Thames Young Mariners centre in Ham, where they undertook a range of group team challenges both on the water and ashore. These included obstacle courses – with some pupils going blindfold as an exercise in trust building – kayaking and the construction, launch and navigation of rafts, one of which proved a bit less trustworthy than the others...
