DofE Gold

Congratulations  to our L6 Gold Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) candidates (above) and to our Bronze contingent (all other pics) on completing their expedition training on Saturday March 4th.

Pupils received training in First Aid, CPR, tents and equipment, use of cooking stoves and more. As well  being a DofE requirement for completing their Award, the training prepares Harrodians for their upcoming expeditions. For Gold, this is imminent with the Brecon Beacons hike taking place in mid-April!

Tents

Parents of Bronze candidates are reminded that they can learn everything they can and get an advance briefing on the expedition essentials by taking part in a Zoom call with Mr Holder and Activ Adventures who run the expeditions on April 24th at 5pm. Mr Holder will send out a link to 13s Parents nearer the time. The session will not be recorded but Mr Holder will share the presentation and parents' answers to queries with parents of all 13s taking part in the Bronze programme.

Our 14s Silvers are next up, with their training taking place on April 22nd and 23rd. All dates can be checked on the Harrodian webpage: (https://www.harrodian.com/senior-6th-form/co-curricular/duke-edinburgh-award).

DofE support sessions continue, every Tuesday lunchtime 1pm to 1:30pm in the ICT suite. Attendance has been good this Spring Term. Mr Holder is keen that  parents should not email him directly, unless absolutely necessary, as pupils have a dedicated Google Classroom that answers many of the common questions and he believes the regular face-to-face support that is available is always the best way to resolve any issues.

Two other very useful points of call for parents and candidates are: Activ Adventures' guide (https://www.activadventures.com/activ-guide/clothing-equipment/) and the DofE website (https://www.dofe.org/do/activities/).
