Road to Wimbledon

Posted on: 22/05/2019

Girls and boys from our 11s, 12s and 13s (Year 7-9) competed in the Road to Wimbledon tennis competition this term. Matches were played in a round robin format, some of which were very closely contested and were concluded with sudden death points.

Twelve of our Harrodian girls (below) participated in the tournament and our four highest scoring girls were Lucy (11GCO), Grace (12ENO), Eva (12ANO) and Serra (13LKU).  The final however was battled out between Grace and Eva. It was a hard-fought game and after many long consistent rallies from the baseline, Eva clinched the victory and will now go through to the next stage to continue her journey on the Road to Wimbledon.

32 Harrodian boys also competed for the title of champion. The top eight players across the age groups (below) qualified to play. Two brilliant semi finals resulted in Oscar (11) and Charlie (11)  playing each other in the final.

They played a competitive match with some exciting exchanges that tested their fitness and nerve throughout. However Charlie achieved the victory and will now go through to the next round.

Congratulations to all our Harrodians who took part and good luck to Eva and Charlie in the next round of the competition.
