Harrodian was proudly represented at the Howdens Rosslyn Park National Schools Rugby Sevens Tournament at the end of last term, with teams competing in two age groups across the week. The U18 team took part in the Vase competition on Monday 23 March and were drawn in a very strong group alongside Dean Close, Bryanston and Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bro Edern. In what was their final outing for our Upper Sixth players, the squad held their own in a highly competitive environment against some of the top rugby schools. Their opening match against Dean Close, who went on to reach the quarter-finals, highlighted the strength of the opposition and the challenge they faced. The squad responded well in their second fixture against Bryanston, showing real determination and improving significantly in the second half, although they were ultimately beaten 36–5. In their final game, Harrodian produced their best performance of the day against Bro Edern and were unlucky to lose 24–19 in the final minute.
Later in the week, the U13 team competed in the Junior Festival on Friday 27 March and delivered an excellent performance. Drawn against Ratcliffe College, Queen Elizabeth’s School Barnet, Solihull School and Stanwell School, the team grew into the day after an opening draw and went on to build strong momentum with a series of wins. The standout match came against Stanwell, where Harrodian overturned a 3–0 half-time deficit with an impressive second-half comeback to win 5–3. The final game was tightly contested, but the team held their nerve to secure victory by a single try, finishing the tournament unbeaten.
