Harrodian Autumn concert

As ever Harrodian’s Autumn Concert offered a great mix of musical styles and performances from every age group including new and established ensembles, duets, choirs, the Jazz Band and full orchestra too.  Not forgetting some outstanding performances by our Sixth Formers.

Duets included a brilliant performance of A Beautiful Noise by Lower Sixth Formers Beatrice and Olivia and Rocco and Daisy’s entertaining take on a song from Shrek The Musical.

The outstanding classical performance of the evening was the orchestra’s rendition of Sibelius's Finlandia',  a symphonic poem written in 1899, under the direction of Kay Le Doujet, Head of Harrodian Music.  At the other end of the musical spectrum the newly formed String, Woodwind and Brass ensemble (a collaboration between the beginner's string ensemble with the beginner's woodwind and brass ensemble) performed the Eye of the Tiger in their first ever concert.

The Boys' Choir was another new group making its debut with the Oasis hit, "Wonderwall". Directed by Head of 11s Dan Maybury, the boys choir has been formed so that they can specifically focus on songs suitable for their voice range

Senior Choir, again conducted by Kay Le Doujet, sang an ambitious medley of Rodgers and Hammerstein songs from Oklahoma, The King and I and Carousel and delivered a very accomplished performance.

Autumn Concert

The concert finished with outstanding performances from Ms Baum's Jazz Band and the brilliant Chamber Choir (Sixth Formers only) who were conducted by Kerry Sampson. Woody and Jamie (Lower Sixth) who were the excellent compères for the evening stepped down from the mics to join the rest of the Sixth Formers who make up the choir. It was a fitting but emotive performance to end a great evening’s entertainment.
