As a reward for all their hard work over the course of the year and in the summer examinations, our 12s (Year 8) pupils enjoyed five days surfing and coasteering on a trip to Newquay in Cornwall.
The year group was able to mark the end of their time in the Prep School with an enjoyable trip to Cornwall where the attractions included brilliant training sessions with instructors at Schools Go Surfing's as well as challenging Coasteering activities, super Stand Up Paddleboarding, a surf/survivor course, and beach games such as volley-ball, rounders and football.
There was also plenty of fun evening entertainment on offer too including a movie night at The Lighhouse Cinema, a handmade jewellery / crafting workshops, Rick Stein fish and chips, pizzas and a special awards ceremony.
When asked what he enjoyed about the trip, 12s pupils Charlie is only too keen to share his enthusiasm. 'I loved the coasteering and jumping off the rocks. It was definitely the best residential trip yet - the hotel was really nice and the food was delicious!'

It was all about the super-sized paddle boarding for Scarlett who says, 'I loved the big paddle boards where you had to work as a team to get anywhere. The best bit was pushing Mr Greenberg off the board and into the water!'

Ava reflects on what made the trip so special for her. 'It was really fun to spend time with friends and teachers away from school. Getting to know other girls and boys from different classes or sets was a real bonus,' she adds.

Joey Greenberg, leader of the trip and 12s Head of Year sees the five-day residential trip as an essential exercise for the year group. 'The great thing about this end-of-year trip is how it frees us (the staff) and children from the physical and social formality of the classroom and is a great way to have fun all together. The children have the chance to solidify friendships and also build new ones.' But he also explains why this particular trip will remain very special to him. 'I shared the news on the trip that I’ll be leaving Harrodian at the end of this academic year. Having this memory as one of my last with such a fantastic group of pupils means the world to me. I couldn't be prouder of them, their positive energy, enthusiasm, and resilience really shone through.'
