Just before the half-term break, Pre-Prep pupils celebrated PSHRE week and simultaneously marked Children's Mental Health Week (7-13 February) by creating a Tree of Kindness.

A whole range of PSHRE related activities were organised for the Pre-Prep classes to participate in throughout the week including mindfulness/meditation, yoga, discussing feelings and how to deal with them, creating emotion wheels and making breathing sticks.

Emotion wheels - children were able to name and recognise their feelings

The children had access to a special PSHRE Library and many of the books were read by teachers during story time over the course of the week.

Making breathing sticks from pipe cleaners and beads, the children passed beads from one end to the other whilst taking deep breaths and used them as calming tools for quiet reflection.

The Tree of Kindness was a collaborative piece of art that all the children contributed to. Each child made a green leaf, they also created another leaf in a bright colour and on this they wrote down what kindness meant to them.

A few children from each class were selected by the teachers to help paint the tree and the teachers then added all the paper leaves to complete the tree.

The finished article now adorns the Pre-Prep courtyard gates, so please do have a look if you haven't already seen it!
