Teacher of Mathematics (Secondary - KS3 to KS5) - April or September 2026 (sooner for the right candidate)

The School wishes to appoint a highly able, innovative and enthusiastic Teacher of Secondary Mathematics to join our high-achieving and dynamic Mathematics department on a full-time basis from April or September 2026. A position may be available sooner for the right candidate. The successful candidate will teach students across Key Stages 3 to 5. We welcome applications from teachers with all levels of experience, although experience of teaching Further Maths up to A Level would be an advantage. Harrodian students follow the Edexcel specification at both GCSE and A-level.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a genuine interest in Mathematics as an academic discipline and have the ability to convey this to our pupils. The department seeks to promote Mathematics outside the classroom and offer opportunities for enrichment to pupils of all ages. Teachers at Harrodian will consistently model excellent practice and will look to make a significant contribution to the department. They can also expect to lead a form and run lunchtime or after-school clubs which contribute to shaping the extra-curricular life of the school.

Mathematics and Further Mathematics are the most popular choices at A Level amongst Harrodian sixth form students. We are continually developing our range of teaching resources, including our tech-driven materials for the optimum use of student iPads within lessons.

The Maths department at Harrodian is driven by a team of passionate and talented individuals who demonstrate keen willingness to extend their involvement beyond the syllabus through co-curricular clubs, competitions and activities. Our students enter a range of competitions, including the UKMT Mathematical challenges (Junior, Intermediate and Senior), the British Mathematical Olympiad, and the Hans Woyda Mathematics challenge, amongst other local competitions. Our students are ambitious and they truly value the additional support the school offers for these prestigious competitions.

From a combined total of 82 A-level pupils over the past three years, 96% achieved A* /A grades in the examination cycles of 2022, 2023 and 2024 In both December 2023 and December 2024, the outstanding exam results of our A Level Mathematics candidates over the past two years saw Harrodian top the list of Britain's 'Best Schools at Maths' in Parent Power, The Sunday Times' definitive guide to UK secondary schools'. Ultimately, however, it is the studying of Mathematics at the best of each students' ability that is key; the setting system is kept fluid to give every student the teaching that suits their needs, give late developers the opportunity to flourish, and, ultimately, to ensure that each student is equipped to do their very best.

Founded in 1993, the Harrodian is a co-educational school set on 25 acres of grounds with excellent facilities. Providing staff and students alike with a welcoming and exceptional learning environment, where small class sizes and high standards foster academic excellence, we value enthusiasm, adaptability and a commitment to student engagement across all ability levels. A sense of fun, responsiveness to individual learning needs, and an open approach to teaching are qualities we regard highly. Staff are also expected to contribute fully to the pastoral and co-curricular life of the school, ensuring a holistic and enriching educational experience for all pupils. Teaching staff at Harrodian can therefore expect to lead a form and run lunchtime/after-school clubs as part of this contribution.
