Harrodian's libraries contain over 17,000 books so it isn't surprising that through no fault of their own, some brilliant titles often languish unread on the shelves for years. Now, as part of our many exciting and inventive activities for World Book Day on the 1st March, Harrodian is challenging pupils to read one of these lonely books and possibly to win a prize for the privilege. Sixth Form media students, August and Neha, have got together to make an amusing and inspiring film that promotes World Book Day and shows how we will celebrate it at Harrodian this year. Please watch it below.
The lonely books concept is just one of many inventive ideas - including the usual dressing-up-as-literary-characters theme - that our Librarians and teachers have put together to celebrate World Book day. Librarian Brenda Powell is running a Book Swap which invites students and staff to bring in a book that they enjoyed and would like to share, along with a £1 for the charity Book Aid International. Meanwhile, everyone is invited to bring in a photograph of themselves reading a book to someone. These photographs will be on show in the Main Hall.
