Headmaster's Blog: Welcome

James Hooke, Harrodian Headmaster's Blog

Harrodian's new Hub

The first thing I have to confess about this new Headmaster's Blog is that blogging doesn't come naturally to me!  When it comes to communicating online, I've always been more what marketing types call a 'laggard' rather than an 'early adopter'. But the launch of this exciting new Harrodian website at the start of 2018 has convinced me that it's time to consign any lingering digital fogeyism to the trash.

After all, the new site marks a leap forward in Harrodian's communication capabilities.  As I write in my introduction to the school elsewhere on this site, the best way to get a proper sense of Harrodian's unique character is to visit us. But I'm pleased to say that this website comes close to conveying effectively and vividly to those who haven't yet visited us, just how it feels to be a pupil here.

The aim is to make the website a lively focal point of school activity, a hub easily accessed on PCs, tablets and mobiles, where potential and existing parents and pupils can discover and engage with Harrodian life.

James Hooke, Headmaster

In addition to featuring an elegant design full of images that express the beauty of our riverside setting and the activities of all our pupils, the website has an intuitive and simple navigational structure. It brings together three distinct age group schools which share a common vision and values.

Our plans for our new website go well beyond merely creating an appealing and attractive on-line brochure.  The aim is to make it a lively focal point of school activity, a hub easily accessed on PCs, tablets and mobiles, where potential and existing parents and pupils can discover and engage with Harrodian life. Alongside my own blog, this launch edition of the site includes contributions from section heads and individual departments on subjects as diverse as politics, economics, pastoral activities and art. Our blogs can be found in the dedicated news hub alongside the latest stories in words and pictures from all areas of the school.

We hope that you enjoy the website and find it both helpful and informative. More exciting visual and written contributions from both our staff and pupils will follow as the site evolves. I will be back with a new blog soon, but in the meantime please do take the opportunity to explore and enjoy Harrodian on-line.
