Pre-Prep Blog: In Florence's footsteps

Victorian pre prep
Although it's been chilly and stormy over the past week, that has not prevented Pre-Prep children from getting out and about. PP2M embarked on a trip out to the Acton/Ealing area where they visited Gunnersbury Park and its museum.

The trip was prompted by the 'Nurturing Nurses' topic that PP2M have been studying, during which they learn about nursing pioneers and heroines such as Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole and Edith Cavell and learn about their impact and influence on nursing and healthcare today.

The activity involved an interactive workshop and role play which was beautifully produced and which the children found enjoyable and memorable.

PP2M also made the most of the opportunity to explore Gunnersbury's beautiful landscape which features  mature trees, open grass spaces and historic buildings including an Orangery, "Princess Amelia's" Bath House, Gothic Ruins and The Stables.

We are looking forward to visiting Gunnersbury Park again when there will be more to see. Our interactive workshop took place in the Small Mansion as the Large Mansion which contains the museum is temporarily closed for refurbishment. But when this lottery-funded project concludes the museum will reopen, probably later this year.
