Pre-Prep Maths Day caused quite a stir this week as a pirate theme encouraged the children to develop their problem solving skills.
At Pre-Prep assembly we had some visitors from our Upper Sixth A Level mathematics group and also Head of Mathematics, Mr Tony Lee. Captain (Mr) Hooke astounded the children and parents with his maths conundrum but agreed to hand over the Pre-Prep ship to Captain Morgan to continue the problem solving theme.
All the classes enjoyed maths workshops in the theatre or in their classrooms and class teachers also planned lots of interesting activities for their classes.
Many children also took part in a special maths challenge where they had to guess the number of coins and jewels in the treasure chest and in the process practise using their estimating skills.
The winners will be revealed in assembly on Monday. Thanks must go to Miss Penwill and Mrs Sassa, our Pre-Prep Maths Co-ordinators, for organising this special day for the children.
