Prep Blog: Welcome

Prep leadership team

Many thanks for reading the first instalment of our regular new Harrodian Prep Blog. If you have had the chance to explore the new website since it was launched at the start of term we hope you are impressed by its communication possibilities. One big advantage is more accessible information. On the Edulink parent portal, parents now have all the vital details about their children – timetable, assessments, reports and calendar – at their fingertips.  For curriculum or staff information, you can consult the public site.

It's the website's potential to provide a richer picture of Prep life that we believe will really appeal

But it’s the website’s potential to provide a richer picture of Prep life that we believe will really appeal.  A wide range of activities is a vital ingredient in the Prep mix and Spring Term is a case in point. With the end of January approaching, some of our pupils are rehearsing hard for the forthcoming performance of School of Rock, others are practising alone or in groups for the annual school-wide Battle of the Bands. All our Prep pupils have been writing and preparing speeches for the forthcoming inter-class Public Speaking competition and working secretly, rehearsing scripts for the hotly contested House drama contest that takes place in March.

067_Harrodian.jpgThanks to our News Hub, for the first time parents and pupils will be able to enjoy highlights of all these important Prep events almost as soon as they take place.  The blog will also provide us with the opportunity for a little reflection on the thinking that goes into them. The Prep is firmly committed to the principle of Educating the Whole Child as the range of the Spring Term's curricular and extracurricular programme shows. As well as providing fun and healthy competition, each activity - drama, public speaking, musical performance – builds vital life skills such as confidence, resilience cooperation and mutual support.

If this whets your appetite, please keep an eye out for regular news and blog postings from the Prep. You can follow all school news @HarrodianNews on twitter and by clicking the 'twitter' sign on our News Hub website page.
