Harrodian U12s Hockey A team

Ms Hazel Lovegrove Head of Prep Sport reflects on a highly promising Hockey Season for Harrodian Prep

We've had a busy hockey season with girls in the Lower and Upper Prep schools participating in over 100 hockey matches this term.  A big thank you to Martha Kinsella, Head of Hockey, for arranging these fantastic fixtures for all of our girls (and parent spectators!) to enjoy.  Our boys have also had the opportunity to play hockey in their lessons after half term too, which has been great to see.

The U11A, U12A and U13A girls' teams have had a very successful run in the newly formed England Hockey London Area School competitions this term.

Many pupils have been so enthused in school lessons, that they have now looked to continue their love of hockey outside of school too, by joining local clubs such as Barnes, Richmond, PHC Chiswick and Hampstead & Westminster.

As well as a full Harrodian fixtures programme, the U11A, U12A (photo above) and U13A girls' teams have had a very successful run in the newly formed England Hockey London Area School competitions this term.

After finishing in 1st place at the west area qualifiers, our U12A team finished with an amazing Silver medal in the Tier 2 London School's Finals, narrowly losing 1-2 to Surbiton High in a very closely contested match.  Meeting ex GB Hockey Olympian and all-time hockey legend Kate Richardson-Walsh before the big final, below, certainly raised their spirits even further!

After finishing second in the west area qualifiers, our U13A team, (photo below) finished in an amazing 4th place overall in the Tier 1 London Schools' Finals.  Our girls demonstrated incredible skill, teamwork, grit and determination, competing in the highest tier possible, against some of the largest specialist hockey schools in the country, including Surbiton High and Kingston Grammar School.  They were an absolute credit to our school and to compete closely against the 'best of the best' has been truly remarkable.

Meanwhile, Maia (U13), Farrah (U13), Eva and Jessie (U16) have all been selected to represent London in the 2022 Junior County competitions, which are currently being played within the England Hockey Player Pathway.

All in all, the future for Harrodian hockey is looking very bright indeed.
